Ways to Tie a Square Hair Scarf & Neck Scarf

Different Ways to Tie a Hair Scarf & Neck Scarf
Okay, I’ve noticed a lot of people asking how to tie a hair scarf or neck scarf. Here are four different ways you can wear a 40×40 square hair scarf. All of the photos above are of the same exact size scarf: 40×40. If you’re wondering where the hair scarf came from, it can be purchased here.

1st way: Refer to the top left picture of the gold scarf. This is how a lot of big stores are showing their scarves on models. You simply take the square scarf and fold it down the middle to make a triangle. You then lay the tip of the triangle on your chest and wrap it around to the back and then come around to the front and tie it UNDER the front so it’s hidden. Most people believe you simply tie it in the back. I suppose it can be worn this way but I much prefer for the ends to be hidden under the front. It looks much more polished and less cowboy. 🙂

2nd way: Refer to the top right picture of the black & white scarf. This way is probably pretty self-explanatory from the photo. You start out the same way as way #1. You simply take the square scarf and fold it down the middle to make a triangle. Then you sort of roll it to make a long scarf and drape it around your neck and tie it in a loose tie.

3rd way: Refer to the bottom left picture of the wine colored scarf. This is how you’ve probably seen Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie wearing their hair scarves. You start out the same way as way #1 and way #2. You simply take the square scarf and fold it down the middle to make a triangle. Then lay the center of the triangle with the point in the back. You may want to get someone to hold the scarf down on your forehead while you tie it in the back. It’s very easy for it to slip while you are tying the scarf. So you take the ends and tie it OVER the point of the triangle at the base of your neck. Just tie it in a regular old knot of square knot.

4th way: Refer to the bottom right picture of the gray scarf. This way is also probably pretty self-explanatory from the photo. You start out the same way as way #1, #2 & #3.  You simply take the square scarf and fold it down the middle to make a triangle. Then you sort of roll it to make a long scarf and drape it around your neck. This way is how I’ve seen Nicole Richie wear her oversized scarves. She drapes them around her neck with tanks and also wears them this way underneath jackets. It’s very cute.
